About Sky Climber
Overview: Sky Climber, LLC is a multinational designer and manufacturer of powered suspended access systems, including traction hoists, modular work platforms, rigging, and fall arrest equipment. Founded in 1955 and headquartered in Delaware, Ohio, Sky Climber has operated a European base in Belgium since 1969 and markets its products through a worldwide network of dealers supported by factory engineers and technicians.
Sky Climber is one of the original names in suspended access, building hoists and platforms for nearly seven decades. Its equipment is designed for virtually any structure that needs powered access from above, from high-rise facades and window cleaning to power station boilers, chimneys, bridges, storage tanks, ships, and wind turbines. The company has long promoted safety, service, and solutions as the foundation of its business.
Sky Climber Europe, based near Antwerp in Duffel, Belgium, supports dealers and users across Europe, the Middle East, India, Asia, Australia, and Africa. In the U.S., Sky Climber Access Solutions sells and rents suspended access equipment through branches in several major cities, and the Sky Climber Renewables business grew out of the company's wind turbine access platforms. Through Scaffold Exchange, you can find Sky Climber equipment and the providers who sell, rent, and service it.

OSHA Compliance & Safety Standards
On U.S. construction sites, suspended scaffolds using powered hoists fall under OSHA 29 CFR 1926.451 and 1926.452. Hoists must be tested and listed by a qualified testing laboratory, have normal and emergency braking, and be used within their rated load. Rigging and counterweights must be checked by a competent person, and each worker on a two-point suspended scaffold must use both a guardrail system and a personal fall arrest system on an independent lifeline. Permanent building maintenance equipment falls under OSHA 1910.66.
- Hoists listed by a qualified testing laboratory
- Secondary fall arrest devices installed and working
- Platform and hoist combinations approved by the manufacturer
- Independent lifelines and fall arrest for every worker
- Rigging and counterweights checked by a competent person
- Hoists serviced per the manufacturer's schedule
