Singapore will require scaffold netting installed outside buildings to meet fire-retardant specifications for construction projects awarded from 1 March 2027, with certification requirements following from 1 March 2028.
Singapore will require scaffold netting installed outside buildings to meet fire-retardant specifications for construction projects awarded from 1 March 2027, with certification requirements following from 1 March 2028. The mandate applies regardless of scaffold material and forms part of broader fire-safety measures following Singapore's review after the deadly Wang Fuk Court fire in Hong Kong in November 2025. Manufacturers, suppliers, contractors, and occupiers share responsibility for compliance with accepted fire-test standards from British Standards, Japanese Industrial Standards, or the US National Fire Protection Association.
