The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has announced comprehensive updates to scaffolding safety standards that will take effect in the first quarter of 2025. These changes represent the most significant update to scaffolding regulations in over a decade.
Key changes include stricter requirements for fall protection systems, enhanced training requirements for workers who erect and dismantle scaffolding, and new inspection protocols that must be followed before each work shift.
"Worker safety is our top priority," said the OSHA administrator. "These updated standards reflect advances in scaffolding technology and lessons learned from workplace incidents over the past several years."
Construction companies are advised to begin reviewing their current safety protocols and training programs to ensure compliance with the new requirements.
